Almost no power in first

Postby twack on Mon Sep 22, 2008 12:05 pm

Ok for starters this is an automatic 1g. The other night went out beat on the car a bit then i noticed i had no power in first. Its really slow to get going. If i nudge the car forward at a stop it feels notchy. The transmission is not slipping it simply takes forever to get up to speed, once into boost she still pulls like a raped banshee in all gears even 1st. I did a boost leak, compression test, checked plugs, transmission level, checked for shaft play, and they all are fine so im stumped why i have no power in 1st. Any help would be awesome.

Is it in limp mode (third gear start)?

It is not in limp mode (but thats how 1st feels), it goes through all gears, I have a shift box so this is what it does in manual or auto mode. if im at a stop and i try to pull forward just a little bit then it will move forward jerky until like 2mph. Stalls to 2500 but when i let go theres no power still. Im pretty sure it is a transmission or torque converter issue but not sure which or whats going on

It does sound like you may have broken the trans or converter.

They are usually repaired/replaced as a set.
